March 2013 02:46 03/03/2013 Went out for a drink with friends, and on the way back, I deliberately walked past my car and walked on down to the river, crossed the river on a rickety and very long and narrow foobridge in the almost total darkness. The hazey half moon was orange and the river was frozen over from bank to bank. Probably the ice was only paper-thick, but I could see the way if reflected the street lights and there was not a spot of free water anywhere on the river's surface. It was cold and I was not dressed warmly, so I had to walk fast. Nice. 02:42 08/03/2013 Thursday night... Dancing in the street, listening to Fela Kuti. 02:31 09/03/2013 Friday night... I've got into the habit of walking out late at night, listening to music on an mp3 player or radio. Tonight it was Fela Kuti. I think it might be Fela Kuti for a while. He recorded 50+ albums so I've got some catching up to do. It's a strange thing. His music is both relaxing and energising. His lyrics are very thought-provoking too of course but it's music I can put on in the background without disturbing my train of thought. Most songs disturb me and I can't work with them on, but not Fela Kuti. I am feeling slightly better - slightly fitter - since I started going out walking regularly. Also, I have lost some weight and I'm now the same weight as a year ago. Tonight I walked for half an hour or so. Not longer because it started raining more heavily and I didn't want to get my headphones too wet. |
